Valentine Poem for Parents in the Thick of It

Happy Valentines Day, Parenting Partner

You love me when I cry about nothing
You love me when my ankles swell
You love me when my face is fat
And when my snoring sounds like hell

You love me when I’m overtired
You love me when we’re overwhelmed
You love me when we’re drained and wasted
And when our date night goes to hell

You love me when I’m so impatient
You love me when we fight and yell
You love me when they won’t stop whining
And when the chaos feels like hell

You love me going grey and wrinkled
You love me if they get expelled
You love me when your job is stressful
And when we live in teenage hell

I’ll love you when you’re bald and cranky
I’ll love you when you can barely see
I’ll love you when our house is quiet
And when we’re back to just you and me.
