The Gift of LifeExperiences

Some people have a knack for buying gifts. They have an ability to understand your personal style, and the foresight to pay attention to what you need, and then they buy you the perfect item that even you didn’t know you needed. Sigh … If only everyone had that ability. But most people don’t. Instead we waste money on something that our loved one doesn’t need, all while we try to figure out what to do with all the stuff we’ve been given that we don’t need. What’s the acceptable amount of time you have to keep something before you can give it to a thrift store, anyway?

This is why we, Jac and Juli, were delighted when we heard of This is a website that partners with local businesses so that people can give experiences as gifts, without having to do all the research themselves. There are so many great ideas here that the hardest part is picking between them. Luckily, if you can’t choose, you can buy a gift certificate to the whole darn site, and then the recipient of the gift gets to choose for themselves! These are actually eGift Certificates, so they get to the recipient quickly so there are no worries if you’ve procrastinated again.

It was making a decision that was the real pickle we were in when we were offered a free Life Experience in exchange for hosting this giveaway on our blog (more on THAT later). We quickly and happily agreed to do it, but then had to choose what to do! Such a conundrum. It really came down to the one-hour sight-seeing flight over Vancouver, or an aromatherapy massage package, including a foot massage and a facial. The appeal of the flight was that it would be an adventure, but we also loved that it was Valentine’s Day-themed and promoted to couples because we thought it would be so hilarious and awesome to share a picnic basket of treats while taking our love to new heights. You know, as friends and co-bloggers do. But in the end we went with the massage because, well, it was a massage.

Well. It’s been a long time since I, Jac, have had a massage because I don’t really need them so it’s not much of a priority … but wow, do I love them. I remember now how much I love massages. It was amazing. And then when I was done, I sat in the adorable and cozy waiting room, reading my book while Juli had her massage, and that was pretty great too.

And when I, Juli, had my massage, courtesy of the magic hands of the masseuse at the Dawa Spa, all I could think was: “I would like these more frequently, please.” And also, “How do I convince my husband to get me several more of these?” and also “Has it been an hour and fifteen minutes already?! Noooo.” Truly, it was a spectacular experience.

Juli looked pretty relaxed and happy, even in the waiting room beforehand.

Giving gifts is difficult. But sending someone for a massage, or taking them on a sight-seeing flight, or going with them on a tour of the best local food trucks, or organizing an in-home cooking class for two — those gifts are not only easy, they are awesome, even (especially?) in the form of a last-minute eGift Certificate. Plus, the site is set up so you can easily browse through the experiences that are in your area. This is a Canada-wide company, but you don’t have to worry about being tempted by great experiences that are across the country from where you live.

The best part is that the people at LifeExperiences would like us to give away a $100 gift certificate to one of our readers! All you have to do is go to their site (by clicking HERE) and then comment on this post with what experience you would most want to do. Easy peasy, right? Then we’ll do a random draw and the winner will be emailed.

Make sure you tell your Valentine to enter as well, because we all know this is your best shot at getting a gift you actually want, amiright?

Good luck!

My adventurous self leans towards something like rafting, but my flu ridden aching body just wants to be horizontal, so I’m going to say the Scalp and Foot massage with mini Facial!

    Thanks for the giveaway! <3

I pick whalel watching. I have never been whale watching. I am the only member of my family that hasn’t. Also the only member of my family not currently studying and therefore free to go sail the seven seas. Also mother of 2 teens. #needisaymore

Fly me over Vancouver! What a thrill that would be. Mother of three 30-40 year olds….I have forgotten almost everything about the old baby/kid days but remember enough to think that THEY should be rewarding me now!

Lots of great options but you two sure made those massages sound amazing! Anything with pampering would be just fine by me!

I spend the day with dirty criminals and would love to cleanse my body with a spa day, but I’m sure I’ll just end up giving it to my wife.

I would use it for the Sanctuary International Day Spa in Burlington – Come to Your Senses.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

Hmm… choices, choices! I’m waffling between the Scandinave spa in Blue Mountain and the Gananoque Spa. Essentially, spas are where it’s at for me today. 😉

Can’t decide between a massage or a dinner out with husband. I’m guessing that after I birth child 2 in the next few weeks, I’ll want some sort of pampering.

    What fun!
For me? Either the Sea Safari Eco Tour or the Spa Pkg.
For my guy? Either the Craft Breweries or the Sandpiper Golf Resort.
For us both? The Kelowna Elopement Pkg! 😉

I LOVE experiences as gifts, especially with 4 kids and a small house. I have a couple of kids who would love the parent and child rafting experience.

While the foodie part of me wants to say food truck, I’ve been dying to go white water rafting with my husband for ages and haven’t done it. So white water rafting! 😀
